Welcome to my webpage! I have proudly worn many hats across the years; my favorites, of course, being the ones I wear close to home. But I have also loved (and continue to love) being a choir director, a physical therapist, a yoga teacher, a yoga studio manager, a yoga therapist and a yoga teacher trainer (to name a few.)

Across the years, I have dabbled with writing but in 2025, I went with an introspective pull and wrote two beautiful books; one with the adult version of my toddling granddaughter in mind and the other, more specifically, for yoga practitioners and teachers alike. I feel called to share what I have experienced in this holy, hot mess of a life and the wisdom I have gleaned along the way. With humility and awe, I know that my words have brought comfort and meaning and the plan is to keep going. We shall see what God thinks of those plans...

Join me here if you wish to remain updated with my teaching and writing shenanigans. I hope to blog and write regularly, teach when life permits and connect with you all in any way I can.

With much love, always, Crystal

A Toolbox for Eva began as a letter to my granddaughter and it became the book I always knew I would write. It is a love letter to her, to me, to my family, to my friends who are family, to my human family and to the God of my understanding (which changes daily).

The basic questions we all wrestle with including "What is this life all about? How do I make sense of it all?" are addressed in A Toolbox for Eva in a relatable, often funny, sometimes heart-wrenching way. If life permits and when the timing is right, I look forward to sharing what I have learned with my beloved granddaughter. Otherwise, it is here for her and for you. There are many self-study questions sprinkled throughout the book; a journal nearby is recommended for the process.

If you are spiritual or not or somewhere in between, I hope this little soul exercise brings a bit of ease to your journey.

For almost half of my life, I have been immersed in the study and practice of yoga. I have spent eighteen years teaching yoga, many years managing a yoga studio and twelve years as creator, co-director and lead teacher of CrossRoads 200/300 Hour Yoga Teacher Training. Additionally, I have spent the entirety of my adult life transforming into a better human, one breath at a time.

In A Toolbox for the Light-keepers, I draw a comparison between the twentieth-century lighthouse keepers of the Maine coastline and the awesome responsibility it is to be a yogi, a true Light-keeper, indeed. In this book, I build a bridge from yoga mat and ancient yogic text to the day-to-day joys and trappings of twenty-first-century living. With honesty, relatability and a bit of humor, this book will gently guide its reader to broaden their perspective of what yoga is, to embrace the lifestyle with intention and to apply the philosophical and spiritual principles of yoga in the most practical of ways.

Additionally, throughout the book, I thread in pointers and ideas for yoga teachers to raise the bar on their authenticity and philosophical alignment as teachers. (By the way, I firmly believe that if you study and or practice yoga, you are teaching or exemplifying it one way or another. That's how it works.)
